Recently, a representative of CT Semiconductor (CTS) attended a seminar held at Vietnamese-German University (VGU), where Professor Tu Trung Chan presented on the topic “Vietnam Must Identify the Right Strategic Position to Join the Global Semiconductor Value Chain.”
As the global semiconductor industry undergoes a major restructuring driven by artificial intelligence (AI), Professor Chan noted that Vietnam is facing a rare opportunity to participate more deeply in the industry’s value chain. However, to turn this opportunity into a genuine competitive advantage, Vietnam needs to choose the right market segments suited to its current capabilities, invest heavily in high-quality human resources, and gradually master strategic technologies.
According to Professor Chan, AI is driving an unprecedented shift in the semiconductor industry. While chip performance improvements once relied mainly on shrinking transistor size, today’s challenges extend to energy efficiency, thermal management, and integrating multiple chip types within a single system. This shift toward next-generation technologies — such as new semiconductor materials, quantum chips, photonic integrated circuits, and advanced packaging solutions — is opening new opportunities for later-entrant countries like Vietnam, provided they choose the right development path.
The seminar gave CTS a valuable opportunity to stay current with the latest technology trends in the industry, while reinforcing its strategic vision as it continues to support the growth of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.
